Q: Does the Grand Caillou/Dulac Band claim Treaty Rights?
A: Yes. We claim the rights granted by the Treaty between the United States and the Choctaws, made and concluded at Dancing Rabbit Creek on the 15th of September in the year 1830.
Q: Does the Grand Caillou/Dulac Band have State Recognition?
A: Yes. We gained State Recognition as a Tribe during the Louisiana Regular Session in 2004 (Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 105)
Q: Is the Grand Caillou/Dulac Band Federally Acknowledged?
A: No. We have been pursuing Federal Acknowledgement for the past twenty-eight years and are currently waiting to submit our petition under the revised criteria.
Q: Does the Grand Caillou/Dulac Band have a casino?
A: No. We do not have a casino. The State of Louisiana currently has laws in place which prevent Tribes from owning casinos, and we do not believe that owning a casino would be in the best interest of the Tribe or its Tribal Citizens.
