Traditional Chief Devon Parfait

Traditional Tribal Chief of the Grand Caillou/Dulac Tribe since 2022 and a coastal resilience analyst in New Orleans.

Chief Devon grew up on Shrimpers Row, in Dulac, Louisiana, until his family lost their home to Hurricane Rita in 2005.

He graduated from Williams College with a degree in geosciences in 2022. During college, he mapped how fast his tribe's ancestral land was disappearing.

Today, he works as a coastal resilience analyst for the Environmental Defense Fund. He uses both traditional Indigenous knowledge and Western science to help restore the Gulf Coast and protect his People.

You can read more about his journey in profiles by The Williams Record, Garden & Gun, and the National Wildlife Federation.
