Our Enduring Legacy

The Grand Caillou/Dulac Tribal peoples continue to reside in our ancestral village in Terrebonne Parish, along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. Though traditionally sustained by hunting, trapping, fishing, and farming, these practices are now threatened by rapid land loss and environmental changes. While drastic environmental shifts have made traditional ways of life less sustainable, we continue to adapt and build resilience through relationship-building and knowledge sharing. We are genealogically proven descendants of the Historical Choctaw and the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek. We also possess State Recognition, and possess a separate 501(c)(3) organization called the Grand Caillou/Dulac Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw, Inc.
